It's another rainy day here in Songtan.....Monsoon season! I have never seen this much consistent rain before- and yet it is not flooding. Where is all this water going? For someone who walks everywhere, this is also pretty inconvenient. However, I've got places to go and stuff to do! I really must walk more than the average bear, because in the last week three different people have said "Mary I see you walking all the time!" (of course they see me from their car......). Before we came to Korea I was wallowing in my pregnant and then postpartum glory, and the only walking I was doing was around Target!
This Giveaway week has been pretty fun so far- I love seeing who is reading! If you haven't entered the previous three days of giveaways- head on back and comment! All entries before Midnight on Friday (Eastern time) are accepted.
Today's item for giveaway is probably not specifically Korean, but I had never seen it until Marshall brought one home with him from his last tour here. Now, here in Korea I see them everywhere! These are luggage tags/name tapes that are heavy duty, and snap onto a suitcase or backpack. They are approximately 1.5 inches wide, and about a foot long. They really help when you aren't sure if the suitcase coming around the carousel belongs to you! They also would look really cute on a child's bag. If you win, I will get two different ones made, and you get to pick what colors, and what you want them to say. If you want your name in Hangul (written Korean) that would be cool! Or maybe "Go Steelers!"? It doesn't have to be for you, you could get it made for someone else- so think about what you would want on your luggage tag.
To enter today, all you need to do is comment and tell me THE LAST TIME YOU WALKED MORE THAN A MILE. Ha! No, I'm not kidding.
Stay tuned for tomorrow- Friday is the last day of Giveaway week, and I think it has the best prize!
The Rules- Surely you have seen these by now? Mama always said "Read the fine print". Or something like that.
Each day I will post the item being given away, and how you can win. At the END OF THE WEEK (so after entries are closed Midnight Eastern time on Friday) I will post the winners and send out messages to notify them and confirm the shipping address. If you are not my facebook friend, make sure to include your email address in your comment. I will mail (from an APO address, so be patient) your prize. Please only enter one time for each post- and spread the word! These kinds of giveaways are much more fun when you get new people involved!! (And PS- if you have a blog, why not host a giveaway, huh?)

Brinley and I are walkers! With only one car and Nathan working 12 hour shifts it's the only way to get out. We walk to all of the local parks and up the the commissary/BX at least twice a week- both are well over a mile :)
I think I'd get the luggage tag made for Brinley, she is quite the flying toddler!
These are really cool and sure would help you find your suitcase in an airport. Alex just usually uses colored duct tape. Maybe these would be good for you to bring a bunch home for gifts. I like Maverick's personalized one!!!!
Oh yes the walking thing. Probably at the beach a couple of weeks ago.
bah, is it bad i can't remember. i walk a lot at work. or is it scurry around...
honestly its been so hot (90-100 degrees) here i can't remember a recent time i've walked.
although i'd probably have to say when went to asheville a few weeks ago. my friend and i walked all over downtown shopping. i was exhausted. haha.
a week of two ago- when I was walking in the neighborhood- I Need those tags!! I plan to travel soon!!!
XOXO
Mom
Enjoy your postings........and seeing your handsome kids. S. A.
I love reading your blog, and, of course, I'd love some luggage tags!
While I run more than a mile every day, I had to think a bit to come up with the last time I walked more than a mile. I think it was probably a couple weeks ago when Jules and I walked along the Freedom Trail in Boston.
This morning. Scarlet & Gray get a 2.5 mile walk every morning ... unless we go to the dog park (and lots of smaller walks the rest of the day).
These are cute, but I still like Monday's gift best! LOL I walk alot at work, but probably the last time I walked a mile at one time was last spring. Certainly not since our daytime temps have been pushing 100!
Love ya Mary and the gang!
Those tags are AWESOME! They are my favorite giveaway so far. I don't do a lot of walking because I do the elliptical (30 minutes = about 1.75 miles). But I did walk about 3 weeks ago for 25 minutes (about a mile and some) when I was trying to gain back calories to eat dessert one night. :-)
I try to walk/run 3 miles at the gym every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday... That being said, we'll toss in a little honesty. The last time I walked / ran 3 miles was 2 weeks ago. :-) Not entirely my fault as there was a birth in between AND my wonderful husband brought home a wicked Summer cold that hit everyone in the house... AND THEN ME! I will be back at the gym, hopefully, this Friday and will resume my 3 mile promise!
Thankfully the walk around to the park and then the long way back to the house is just over a mile so that was last Tuesday! But if I count all the steps at work, I get in several miles a day just walking to the lab, shipping, the line and then back to the lab because I forgot something and then back to my desk which is next to the line!
Since I don't wear a pedometer at work (where I'm SURE I clock some distance), I guess the last time I walked over a mile was with you and the family in Korea. I am really enjoying this week of posts and remembering going in to the shops with you and Marshall and the kids.
Well, last time I walked a mile. . . surely it was the last time I shopped with Danielle - just kidding. I'm sure I walked at least a mile on a field trip this spring to the GA aquarium - saw some awesome fish! My email is raleighsgma@gmail.com
Walked at the beach here in LA! I went for a walk with my friend and her two daughters. Emmy (4 years old) acted as my personal trainer for the afternoon and very much enjoyed making me run! She was tougher than my real grown-up trainer and forced me to run much more than I bargained for that day!
HAHA!! Those tags look SOO COOL!! And, I probably walk at least a mile a day at work; if not there, it probably last week when I took Sylas to Carowinds, or when we went to see Def Leppard last week~ However, the FIRST thought that came to mind was when your parents were with us and we went to Jimmy Buffett~
I walk lots of places close to my house and bike to others and people always comment that they see me... Too bad it's the rainy season for you- it's the hot dry season for us
I actually walked 2 miles yesterday. I would have run, but I'm still nursing a broken finger.
I hope you're well! Let me know ad I'll send you to some friends' concerts.
Chris
I must have walked at least three miles today working the craft cart at VBS! The last time before that was around my neighborhood golf course collecting stray balls.
Mary SA is my Mom. Just in case she wins. Mollie
What a cool and yet so simple idea!! I absolutely love it! It's really cool to see what great ideas come from other countries!!! This giveaway week is a BLAST!!
My husband made something like this for our boy's sports bags. He travels a lot so he must have seen them around. I just had a baby so I have not walked in a while. Last time was probably in August in Maui with my 16 year old daughter. Julie@moellerweb.com
Hmmmm the last time I walked more than a mile... That is actually hard to tell, because I don't know distances around here, just approx. descriptions of how long it takes to get somewhere: "Right next door." "Super easy walk." "Not too far away." "A bit of a walk." "Wouldn't want to schlep two kids up and down hills that far." "Nothing is worth walking THAT far."
Or, time it takes to get there. (15 min, 30 min., etc.)
Sooooo using my amazing mathematical abilities and analytical mind, I probably walked more than a mile... wait, are we talking all in one walk, or like a walk to somewhere and then home again counts towards one total?
I'm going to go with "last week."
Walked? I don't know! I've been running a lot lately! Probably 2 weekends ago - we took a stroll while my father-in-law ran his 50 mile race.
