From the Seine to the Rhein! :) We took Mom and Dad up to a town called Rüdesheim, that is along the Rhein River. It was about an hour drive from our house. Rüdesheim is surrounded by vineyards, and famous for its beautiful old town area, and cable-car ride up to the Germania monument.
There is a ferry ride across the river to get to the town.
Gorgeous day!
Once we figured out where to park, we went straight to the cable cars, to head up the hill.
We weren't too high off the ground, but there was a great view.
These vineyards make some of the most delicious Riesling you've ever tasted.
It was really nice and quiet up there!
Mom and Dad got their own car.
Here is one of the views from the top.
This is the Germania monument. It was finished in 1883, and was built to commemorate the German Empire, and the end of the Franco-Prussian war.
From the town, the monument looks small. And from the monument the town looks small.
Mom and Dad!
And us!
Mom and I did a little shopping, and Marshall, Dad, and the kids rode this train around the vineyards.
The town is so cute- like something out of a fairy tale.
Most of these buildings are shops, and restaurants.
And there are also many hotels!
The detail on the buildings is really beautiful.
